Members gathered for the Spring 2026 DVCRA Luncheon in a spirit of celebration and reunion. Retirees mingled warmly, catching up with familiar faces and welcoming newer members into the fold. The room hummed with laughter and lively conversation, setting a festive tone for what would prove to be a rich and memorable afternoon.
“The room hummed with laughter and lively conversation — a reminder of the enduring bonds that make this community so special.”
Announcements & Thank-Yous
The meeting was called to order and members were brought up to date on association news and upcoming initiatives. A round of heartfelt thank-yous acknowledged the many volunteers and contributors whose efforts keep the DVCRA community thriving.
New Member Recruiter & Recognition
A warm welcome was extended to Marti Martin, newly elected to serve as Member Recruiter — a role she steps into with enthusiasm and dedication. The assembly paused to honor her predecessor, Ann Langelier Patton, whose tireless work growing DVCRA membership left a lasting mark on the organization. Nancy read the award citation, and the room responded with well-deserved applause.
Presentation by Scholarship Recipient
Monique Silva, a current DVC scholarship recipient, addressed the membership with a moving and inspiring presentation. Her words offered a vivid reminder of the direct impact DVCRA’s support has on students’ lives — exactly the kind of moment that brings the association’s mission into sharp focus.
Remarks by DVC President
Dr. Monica Chahal, President of Diablo Valley College, joined the luncheon to share greetings and reflections on the college’s direction and community. Her presence underscored the enduring partnership between DVC and its retirees, and her remarks were warmly received by all in attendance.
A Time to Gather
Members enjoyed a relaxed and convivial lunch together — good food, good company, and the unhurried pleasure of an afternoon among friends and colleagues.
Drama Student Showcase
A highlight of the afternoon came courtesy of DVC’s Drama Department. Faculty member Lisa Drummond accompanied three talented drama students who each delivered a short performance for the group. The first piece, “Concentrate on the Negative,” drew laughter and enthusiastic appreciation. Two additional performances followed, each showcasing the creativity and confidence of DVC’s emerging theatrical talent — a delightful reminder of the vibrant student life continuing on campus.
Recent Retirees in Attendance
We were delighted to welcome several newly retired colleagues joining us for the first time as DVCRA members. Please extend a warm welcome to these distinguished additions to our community.
